Right Back Atcha, PC!

I failed miserably at PC's random music quiz - 6.5 out of 30 suxx0rs pretty damn bad. But it did two things for me - it got me to try hitting the shuffle on MediaMonkey on my laptop (and I was pleased with the results) and got me to try to get back at him. So here's the result of my "shuffle 30" results (with a caveat that I turned up a number of instrumentals, which clearly don't count) - to play, just use the comments to name as many songs as you can (some of these have been covered by a number of people, so there's no way you'd know which artist I was listening to but your guesses would be interesting!). Honestly? I'd have only gotten a dozen or so of these.

1) Its so easy to blow up your problems
Its so easy to play up your breakdown
Its so easy to fly through a window
Its so easy to fool with the sound

2) Heaven comes to he who waits
But I know I'm getting nowhere
And all the deeds of yesterday
Have really helped to pave my way

3) Woke up this morning
Closed in on all sides
Nothing doing
I feel resistance
As I open my eyes

3A) (Instrumental Interlude) Jethro Tull - Serenade to a Cuckoo

4) You you look to the stars for answers
Your face glowing in blue
You smile at the thought that there's something out there
Suddenly a smile turns to a stare

5) Another day in June, we’ll pick eleven for football
We’re playing for our lives the referee gives us fuck all

6) Desolate loving in your eyes
You used an made my life so sweet
Step out like a God found child
I saw your eyes across the street

7) Just close your eyes and then remember
The thoughts you've locked away
When tomorrow comes you'll wish
You had today

8) She ain't lonely now
See her shuffle across the floor
Yeah, she's happier now
See her smile and say "come on"

9) I didn't ask for much
As maybe I ought've
But I'm staying in touch
With the one I love
And I can see in the dials
And in these headlights beams

10) moved out to a side road, became a bitter man
flat out in a lawn chair with a phone in his hand
the sharp shooter shock was from the enemy
as the sky fell down the last thing he said to me

11) How will you make it on your own?
This world is awfully big, girl this time you're all alone
But it's time you started living
It's time you let someone else do some giving

12) It seems I cant explain it all
All the reasons gone and I just cant seem to shake
What Ive been brought up on

13) Masters in the counting house
Counting all his money.
Sisters sitting by the mirror --
She thinks her hair looks funny.
And here am I thinking to myself
Just wondring what things to do.

14) Yo solo queria decirte antes de que te fueras
Que te di mi corazon
Que te di mi vida entera
Que correspondi a tu amor
Como lo hace cualquiera

15) Which side do you favor, boy
Whatcha feel when you flip the coin
Which path have you stepped upon
A free path, a straight line

16) He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp,
Or to have his eyes gouged out, and his elbows broken;
To have his kneecaps split, and his body burned away;

17) I gotta get leave
You want rueful? I've got a roomful
I'm a veteran of grief

18) Well, that mockingbird's gonna sail away,
We're gonna forget it.
That big, fat moon is gonna shine like a spoon,
But we're gonna let it,
You won't regret it.

19) The fat is in the fire, a fryer made of chicken wire
Gettin sick and tired of a friggin liar
Pelican, with some very soft mangoes
A closet full of skeletons and terry cloth Kangols

19A) (Instrumental Interlude) Flat Duo Jets - Virginia Surf

20) Easily losing their evening clothes

They danced by the light of the moon
To the Penguins, the Moonglows
The Orioles, and The Five Satins
The deep forbidden music
They'd been longing for

20A) (Instrumental Interlude) The Who - Sparks

21) 'cause I never felt this way before
Like a dog always beggin' for more.

22) Don't want to fight with you
Don't even want to talk to you
Well I wish I had never met you girl
You're always trying to rule my world

23) Hold Tight
One day morning wake up yawning
Break an egg, bust my head, maybe it's a warning
Ring on the bell says it's half past eight
Keys in my tea, hey i'm gonna be late

23A) (Instrumental Interlude) Herbie Hancock - Chameleon

24) Seen the lights go out Broadway
I saw the Empire State laid low
And life went on beyond the Palisades
They all bought Cadillacs
And left there long ago

25) So, tell me how you feel without your medicine
Hold you head feelin' paranoid
Sweet sixteen for a schizoid

26) I was sayin let me out of here before I was
even born--it's such a gamble when you get a face
It's fascinatin to observe what the mirror does
but when I dine it's for the wall that I set a place

27) Once upon a time, I had a little money.
Government burglars took it long
before I could mail it to you.
Still, you are the only one.
Now I can't let it slip away.

28) Drive west on sunset
To the sea
Turn that jungle music down
Just until were out of town
This is no one night stand
Its a real occasion
Close your eyes and youll be there

28A) (Instrumental Interlude) Pell Mell - Drift

29) He said, 'I'll love you till I die'
She told him, 'You'll forget in time'
As the years went slowly by
She still preyed upon his mind

He kept her picture on his wall
Went half crazy now and then
He still loved her through it all
Hoping she'd come back again

30) She grew up in a Indiana town,
Had a good lookin’ mama who never was around.
But she grew up tall and she grew up right
With them Indiana boys on an Indiana night.

1)The Cars, "Moving in Stereo"
16) Sir Robin's Least Favorite Minstrel, "The Ballad of Sir Robin"
24)Billy Joel, "Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway"
28)Steely Dan, "Babylon Sisters"
30)Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, "Last Dance with Mary Jane"

You've got me by 1.5 unless I can pull something up out of the memory banks...

PC - You'll kick yourself in the rear if you don't get 11 and (for an entirely different reason) 15. Think carefully about 21, 26 and 27. I might excuse you for 29 although it's one of the greatest songs ever written.

OK, 11 finally clicked--I was only thinking of the first verse. It's the "Mary Tyler Moore" theme song, probably done by Husker Du.

15 hasn't clicked; the tone seems like a Clash song, but I can't pin down the lyric. It may well be from a Clash song I don't know--"London Calling" is the only album of theirs I could say I know in toto. Then again, it could be something else entirely...)

Wait a minute... I still can't figure the song, but I'm starting to think I can hear Plymale singing it...

Right about 11 (it was a live Joan Jett and the Blackhearts cover actually). And you are definitely getting very warm on 15...
