Earlier this week, JennySlash opined that she thought the announcement that Abu Gonzo was stepping down was purposely timed with the beginning of a two-week hiatus of both the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. Apparently she was far from being alone...Pretty sad when government announcements are scheduled around a comedy show.

Good thing for Abu that items on the Internets tend to have a limited shelf life. Ann's friend Alex Johnson at MSNBC, the one apparently responsible for mistaking a parody Sharpton post for the real deal, is just waiting for the weekend, I think.
(I don't think Congress will forget Abu -- Waxman and Conyers have long memories -- but most bloggers will, and Daily Show and Colbert probably will have fresher material to work with.)
