Update on the Dadmeister

First of all thanks to all of you for your positive energy and prayers! We just got back from Asheville (well, actually we stopped off for dinner at Crook's Corner first) and, man, I have GOT to get the A/C fixed on the Xterra!

Dad is doing much better - as they think that all the meds he's on for all his other problems caused this, they've had him off of pretty much everything other than a saline drip and he's recovered much kidney function over the last couple of days (don't have any idea yet what that means for the other conditions that he's been medicating). He'll probably be at Mission for another couple or three days (unless the nurses kick his ass out) and hopefully he'll be home by Thursday or so.

After visiting for awhile yesterday, Mom and J and I went on into Asheville downtown for dinner, having an awesome nosh at the Laughing Seed. All the stuff I've been reading about the Asheville downtown scene seems to be true - the whole area around the Arcade was packed by 6:15 and even more crowded by the time we finished dinner - looks like a great place to hang out.

Stayed at Dad's last night and went on by the hospital this afternoon before heading for home - my sister and brother-in-law were up from Charlotte and we had a chance to visit a bit before hitting the overheated road. Dad seems to be on the mend and we're hoping for the best.

The funniest thing this weekend was going in to see Dad and having his friend Mark from UNC-A come in and doing a double-take upon seeing that he was in a gown as well. He was in for a heart arrhythmia and had tried to reach Dad Friday but of course Dad was in ER. So after being unable to reach Dad at home or on his cell, he checked this blog of all places and found out that Dad was two doors down in the heart unit at Mission! Ah, the power of the Interwebs...

My mother is just out of the hospital after a reaction to a medication. She can't take Beta blockers and one of her doctors prescribed it for her. The same doctor, as a matter of fact, who prescribed it the LAST time she was in the hospital after a reaction.

Jeez!
