Daddio Update

First of all, I want to thank all of you for your kind comments and support - it is very much appreciated!

Apparently everyone in Asheville is sick or something - they had to keep Dad in ER until about noon today before they could get him into a room. But of course they were able to treat him throughout the night. It's kind of funny - after years of taking Coumadin they're now giving him vitamin K to thicken his blood up a bit. He's also on Darvocet and a couple of kinds of antibiotics. Apparently when he asked the doctor in Spruce Pines for something for the pain before the ride to Asheville the doctor said, "Sure, tell me what you want - leg like that I'll give you anything I've got!". I understand he also said "We're either going to cure it or cut it off". Naturally Dad thinks he's great! :-) All of this is of course to get him stable so that they can work on the infection and then the wound, but I'm feeling a lot more comfortable that he's at least where he needs to be.

My uncle Ronnie came over from Nashville this evening and is staying around until tomorrow, so Mom's heading home to catch some sleep and hopefully actually get to work the next couple of days. My sister's coming up from Charlotte over the weekend and I'm planning to drive up Saturday for the day.

Thanks again to all of you for your thoughts, comments, prayers and good vibes!

A Little Prayer

Dad's been trying to heal from a wound on his leg for quite some time (he's diabetic and has heart problems so this hasn't been easy). It's become infected and treatment apparently hasn't been effective so far, so when I called his place and got his answering machine then called Mom's house and got HER answering machine, I suspected something was up. My sister did reach me a little while later and confirmed that Mom had taken him to the hospital in Spruce Pine. It wasn't until her second call that I found out that he was being transferred by ambulance to the hospital in Asheville with him in a LOT of pain and very low blood pressure.

Many of you have read Dad's comments in this blog in the past, although he's been a more infrequent visitor since he's been feeling bad. Let me tell you (and I can never say this enough) - my father is one of the best men I know. He's the best friend of more people than I can even imagine knowing and he's been my best friend and the best father a guy could have. He's not the praying type - doesn't believe in it himself. But I can't imagine that he'd take it badly if you folks that are so inclined would say a little prayer for his recovery. So please, burn an incense cone, kneel on your prayer mat, chant, meditate, whatever kind of thing you do - just please put in a good word with your preferred diety for my dad.

Gnumoon and NIN

Gnumoon shot the Nine Inch Nails show Thursday in Greeneville, SC and posted some pretty damned awesome pics. I've never tried shooting an arena show, but my attempts at shooting club shows have not produced much of use. Nicely done!

Me from Adam

I can't really talk about the basketball game yet - Adam Lucas can't either but he doesn't do it a hell of a lot better than I can't.
